What are Library eReserves/Course Reserves?

 

Electronic reserve materials (e-reserves) are course materials that are scanned and made available electronically as per your lecturer's request on the Library’s WebPAC. These include chapters from books, journal articles, lecturer notes, and so forth. E-reserves allow multiple users to access electronic reserve materials simultaneously 24/7.

Procedure for submitting eReserves/Course Reserves to the Library

  • Provide the Library with a legible copy for scanning. It can either be a hard-copy or an electronic copy. Documents are converted to Portable Document Format (PDF).
  • Complete the attached E-reserve form and the DALRO form to apply for copyright.
  • Academics will be informed when the process is completed.

How to access eReserves/Course Reserves

 

  • Go to the university website www.ul.ac.za
  • Click on Libraries
  • Click on the Library catalogue
  • You can search the catalogue by  Title or by Lecturer Name
  • Click on submit
  • Click on the link under Available online
  • Type in their name and surname
  • Then their student number as the university ID
  • Then download the notes
  • Registered students with active library records, without overdue books or fines, can access eReserves/Course Reserves.

Advantages of eReserves/Course Reserve

 

  • Study materials are available 24/7, on-campus and remotely.
  • The material can also be made available via Blackboard by the lecturer.
  • Simultaneous usage is possible.
